Starting his ministry-related work in 1980, Fred Wilson began as a youth and music director at a small church in Columbia, South Carolina. During that time, he attended Columbia International University. After much consideration, Fred made the decision to pursue music training.

He enrolled at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia where he received his degree in Music Education. In 1983, he began his career at First Baptist of Atlanta as the Assistant Minister of music. He continued his work there taking on various roles until 2006. While at First Baptist, he met his wife, Melanie, was Ordained to the Gospel Ministry and enrolled at Luther Rice Seminary. In 2007, he served in ministry at Norcross First Baptist Church for three years.

Currently, Fred is pursuing his ministry to men through the non-profit organization, Yielded Ministries, Inc. A part of Yielded Ministries is Yielded Men, his weekly men’s discussion group which meets every Friday morning at Moes Original Barbecue in Peachtree Corners for an hour of fellowship, conversation and prayer. The group is given an opportunity to consider topics that are important to men and the issues they face. They discuss the issue and review verses from the Bible that address the issue. As a Pastor, Fred uses the men’s meeting as a forum to start relationships that he later connects with more deeply on a one-on-one basis.

Fred is dedicated to serving the Peachtree Corners and Norcross communities, and has formed several significant organizations that positively impact hundreds of local families.  Some of these organizations include:

  • All Pro Dad -  Fred leads the local chapter of All Pro Dad at Simpson Elementary School. All Pro Dad is a program that helps fathers become passionate about their role in their family’s life.  Fathers are led to affirm their children as fathers did in the Old Testament with their children. More info is available at www.allprodad.com.

  • Bridges Peachtree Corners -  Fred is a founding member of this initiative which brings together community leaders of diverse backgrounds with the primary goal of building stronger community and unity in Peachtree Corners among diverse ethnic backgrounds.

  • Peachtree Corners/Norcross Pastor’s Association (PCNPA) – PCNPA is a newly-formed association that’s focus is to bring together area pastors to develop relationships with each other as well as opportunities to benefit and positively promote the community.

  • Campus Life  – Fred is the facilitator of Campus Life at Pinckneyville Middle School. The group meets to discuss various topics involving student topics and issues, and is primarily focused on fellowship, developing leadership skills, building positive relationships, and having a relationship with Jesus Christ.

God has blessed Fred with a wonderful wife and family, and he is passionate about serving his community.
